This week, we look back at the life and impact of Lamar Higgins, the first African American to be president of Troy University’s Student Government Association and later a member of the Board of Trustees.And, the Troy University Anthropology Club is co-hosting a five-part lecture series featuring archaeology professionals. The series will aim to increase awareness about local archaeological excavations and clear up some misconceptions about the field, as TROY Public Radio’s Jaelanne Thomas reports.

Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery is celebrating Juneteenth, an annual recognition of the end of slavery in the United States. And although Juneteenth is usually on June 19th, the Museum is celebrating early, something they have been doing for a while as Kameron Banks reports.And, as Host Jared McBride tells us, the Wiregrass Archives is a collection preserving history from the Wiregrass Region. And now, it has its own podcast, "It Came from the Archives."

President Joe Biden recently visited Troy and the Lockheed Martin facility, which manufactures weapons for the war in Ukraine. Two Troy University students reported on the presidential visit for Trojanvision news and the campus newspaper. Producer Kameron Banks asked them what it was like to be in the press pool.And, Professor Robbyn Taylor has served Troy’s Hall School of Journalism and Communication in a variety of roles over the years, and now, she’s becoming its director.
